As I started working on my Hasegawa F-15C I started looking for historical as well as just technical details that might aid me in my build. I did quite a bit of poking around and arrived at this list of videos. Documentaries and walk-arounds there is a fair amount of interesting information about all variants of the McDonnel Douglas (Boeing) F-15.
The first "real" project on my bench, including build and finish and paint etc. was a Hasegawa F-15C Eagle. That got me looking into F-15's and seeing what I could find for other builds that I could learn from. At the time I was not aware of the differences between the variants (A/B/C/D/E) so I ended up with lists of builds for variants other than C. There is still lots of "learning" to be had though as they are still extremely similar.

Here's a relatively quick collection of different approaches, or at least different people explaining the same thing, on the ins and outs of applying "washes" to models. A "simple" method of enhancing panel line detail and other details where shading the details would provide more depth in the final outcome.
Washes can be done with a surprising number of different mediums most of which are covered here. The biggest surprise to me was how NOT simple this can be. Pay particular attention to surface preparation and also the amount and manner in which it is removed.

I just added a Revell 1:48 scale, F/A-18 Super Hornet to my "stash". As I have been building and focusing exclusively in 1:72 scale this will something of a leap for me. Upon initial glance I am excited about the level of detail although I have no idea what I will do with a model this size when complete. Part of the thrill of this hobby I suppose!
As with most of my models I started collecting video tutorials on F-18 builds. Looks like a pretty popular aircraft to model, however it also sounds like the Revell version is going to be something of a challenge. As I am just a Noob in this hobby that does not bode well for me! LOL ... I guess you can't get better without working through being bad first. :) Besides I got for 40% off at the craft store so for $13 USD I figure it's still a pretty good deal.

The first kit I actually completed since 'kick-starting' this model obsession was a Revell 1:72 scale Snap-Tite F-14 Tomcat. This was great as it allowed me to focus largely not on the build but on what interested me the most; painting and weathering.
Perhaps I will post photos of the final result. Nothing to write home about, but it was enough to really get me stoked up. I highly recommend Snap-Tite kits for people who are excited about finishing kits more so than building them.
